What is a personal pronoun?
A personal pronoun is how an individual wishes to be referred to in order to indicate their gender identity. Often, we make assumptions about the gender of another person based on their appearance. These assumptions are not always correct and can sometimes send a hurtful message. Using a persons chosen pronouns is not only respectful to that individual but will also build an inclusive environment within your workplace. In this instance "personal" does not mean that these pronouns are private to an individual, as quite often they are not, it means that they are referring to a unique and individual person.
