We wanted to keep you updated, we have been informed that the Job Retention Scheme will be up and running from 20th April 2020.
The CJRS guidance was updated yesterday and here are some of the new changes:
Furlough applies to employees who have been on PAYE on or before 19th March 2020 and not as previously 28th February 2020.
It amends employees who are on unpaid leave before 28th February 2020 cannot be furloughed until the date agreed to return from unpaid leave. If unpaid leave has been after 28th February 2020, they can be furloughed.
Business under 100 employees, you must provide the information of each individual employee.
Those redundant or stopped working prior to 19th March 2020 can be put on furlough if re-employed.
Those redundancy or stopped working on/after 28th February 2020 can be put on furlough if re-employed.
It is up to an employer to furlough employees who are shielded or on long term sick.
If an employee is sick whilst on furlough - it is up to the employer to decide to move the employee to SSP or to keep them on furlough.
Employees shielding or need to look after children can be furloughed.
If a business transfers under TUPE after 19th March 2020 the new employer can furlough.
As we have highlighted previously, this is the guidance and not legislation, it is important to look at these matters on a case by case basis.
